As parents know, there are no routine vaccinations apart from the annual flu shot/flumist between 18 months and 4 years of age, which means there aren’t as many opportunities for you and your GP to check up on how your kids are growing and developing. By 3 years of age, most of the key childhood developmental milestones should have been met, but if we don’t see children that often in the pre-school years, subtle delays may be missed - that’s why Medicare has introduced a new “3 Year Old Healthy Kids Check”.

Starting from the 1st November, all 3 year old children can come in and have a health check with our nurses and GPs, to help make sure their development, growth and health are all on track. We will catch up on your child’s development and milestones, speech, hearing, vision and growth, as well as address any other concerns you might have. And if we find there is any extra help that might be useful for your family, like speech pathology, OT or physio, we can get referrals for these started as well. Like all our childhood vaccination appointments, this health check will be fully bulk-billed.
